(Intel Mini PCI Card) The name of the Ethernet device driver is Intel(R) PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter in the Device Manager and in the Network Control Panel. Windows NT 4.0 To solve the problem; 32-bit CardBus card is not recognized with Intel Ethernet device driver under Windows NT4.0, the following additional steps are required after update install to clear an incorrect setting in the computer. Additional steps: 1. Shut down Windows NT4.0. 2. Power off the computer. 3. Unplug the ac cable. 4. Remove the battery. 5. Install the battery. 6. Plug the ac cable. UPDATE INSTALL: To update the device driver, Ethernet Device Driver 1. Start Windows NT 4.0. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click Network icon. 5. Click Adapters tab. 6. Select Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection or Intel(R) PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter. 7. Click Update button. 8. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box. 9. Click the Continue button. 10. Click the Close button. 11. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer. CLEAN INSTALL: Ethernet Device Driver 1. Start Windows NT 4.0. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the Network icon. It displays the Network Configuration dialog box if this is the first time to configure the Network. If not, go to step 18. First Network Configuration 5. Click the Yes button. 6. Select Wired to the network. 7. Click the Next button. 8. Click Select from list button. 9. Click the Have Disk button. 10. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box, and click OK. 11. Select Intel PRO Adapter, and click OK. 12. Click the Next button. 13. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen. 14. Follow the prompts for any Windows NT installation disks by typing the path to the directory that contains Windows NT files. (It is usually c:\i386 directory or Windows NT CD-ROM's x:\i386 directory.) 15. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen. 16. Click the Finish button when the installation completes. 17. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer. Add Ethernet to Network Configuration 18. Click the Adapters tab. 19. Click the Add button. 20. Click the Have Disk button. 21. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box, and click OK. 22. Select Intel PRO Adapter, and click OK. 23. Click the Close button. 24. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen. 25. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- (Windows NT 4.0) NDIS File Name Version ---- --------- ------- NDIS4: E100bnt.sys 5.41.38.0 The Windows NT4.0 uses the following NDIS device drivers. Windows NT 4.0: E100bnt.sys To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your system, follow the following instructions: 1. Right-click the My Computer icon. 2. Click Find. 3. Type the NDIS driver name in Named: field. For example, type E100bnt.sys in the field. 4. Click the Find Now button. It lists the NDIS driver. If it does not list the NDIS driver, the Ethernet device driver is not installed in your system. 5. Right-click E100bnt.sys that is found in the Windows folder. 6. Click Properties. 7. Click the Version tab. 8. Click the Product Version in the Items name: field.
