Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet for DOS and OS/2

What This Package Does
----------------------
This package provides the Ethernet driver for DOS(*1) and OS/2.
The Ethernet driver enables or updates the Ethernet function on the
following ThinkPad computers.
The following Ethernet device is integrated into your ThinkPad.

  - Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet

  (Note) *1: The DOS driver is included only for unattended
             installation purpose.

This release supports the following systems:

  - ThinkPad T43(*3)
  - ThinkPad T43p(*2)
  - ThinkPad R52(*2)
  - ThinkPad X41(*2)
  - ThinkPad X41 Tablet(*2)

  (Note) *2: OS/2 is not supported.
         *3: ThinkPad T43 that has the following Machine Type (M/T)
             does not support OS/2:
		M/T: 1871/1872/1873/1874/1875/1876

To determine if you should update the Ethernet driver, refer to the
"Summary of Changes" section.

To update the Ethernet driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions"
section.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------

Unattended Installation
-----------------------

DOS driver for unattended installation:
For users who need to do unattended installation, DOS drivers are
included in the following directories in this package.  The DOS driver can be used
only for this purpose.

    \NDIS2\DOS
    \Netware\ODI16

OS/2
----
The OS/2 device driver is located in the following folder:

    \NDIS2\OS2

UPDATE INSTALL:
 1. Double-click the OS/2 System icon on the desktop
 2. Double-click System Setup
 3. Double-click MPTS Network Adapters and Protocol Services
 4. Click Configure in "Multi-Protocol Transport Services"
 5. Confirm that "LAN adapters and protocols" is selected and click     Configure
 6. Click Other adapters...
 7. Type the full path name of the following folder and click OK
     \NDIS2\OS2
 8. Select the following Ethernet adapter in "Network Adapters"
     "Broadcom Ethernet"
 9. Click Change
10. Click Yes in "Change Network Adapter"
11. Click OK to close "Adapters and Protocol Configuration"
12. Click Close to close "Configure"
13. Click Exit to close "Multi-Protocol Transport Services"
14. Confirm that "Update CONFIG.SYS" is selected and click Exit
    "CONFIG.SYS Updated" to be displayed
15. Click OK
16. Click Exit to exit "MPTS"
17. Reboot the system

CLEAN INSTALL:
 1. Double-click the OS/2 System icon on the desktop
 2. Double-click System Setup
 3. Double-click MPTS Network Adapters and Protocol Services
 4. Click Configure in "Multi-Protocol Transport Services"
 5. Confirm that "LAN adapters and protocols" is selected and click     Configure
 6. Click Other adapters...
 7. Type the full path name of the OS/2 Ethernet driver and click OK
     \NDIS2\OS2
 8. Select the following Ethernet adapter in Network Adapters and Click     Add
     "Broadcom Ethernet"
 9. Add Protocols as required for your network
10. Click OK to close "Adapters and Protocol Configuration"
11. Click Close to close "Configure"
12. Click Exit to close "Multi-Protocol Transport Services"
13. Confirm "Update CONFIG.SYS" is selected and click "Exit"
    "CONFIG.SYS Updated" to be displayed
14. Click OK
15. Click Exit to exit MPTS
16. Reboot the system
