HOCKWARE ANNOUNCES NEW VERSIONS OF VISPRO/REXX, VISPRO/C AND VISPRO/C++

New versions include support for change management and team development

       Support for DB2, Watcom SQL, and ODBC-enabled databases

    Entity/Relationship Database Designer provides more powerful and
                           attractive results


CARY, N.C., September 8, 1995 -- HockWare, Incorporated today announced
the availability of VisPro/REXX Gold 3.0, VisPro/REXX Bronze 3.0,
VisPro/C 3.0 and VisPro/C++ 3.0, allowing application developers to
quickly develop OS/2 graphical user-interface (GUI) programs.  The four
products contain the following:

o Ability to generate high-quality, non-proprietary code.
o Extensive drag and drop programming capabilities.
o An abundance of user-interface programming objects.
o Full Workplace Shell-integration.
o Integrated compiler environment for accurate monitoring and
  debugging.
o A built-in visual Entity/Relationship Database Designer for ODBC
  (except VisPro/REXX Bronze).
o VisPro/Objects, a custom object builder that is based on the IBM
  System Object Model (SOM).
o Compatibility across all VisPro products. User interface resources
  can be imported from another VisPro product.
o Many other features that allow programmers to develop 32-bit,
  multi-threaded, client/server applications.
o VisPro/C++ provides a graphical class browser that allows
  programmers to easily view the IBM User Interface Class Library and
  drag methods from the library to a VisPro/C++ program.

With the new releases, all products feature the VisPro Team
Administrator (except VisPro/REXX Bronze), which takes the error-prone
guesswork out of team development.  The Team Administrator allows
programmers to clearly and easily compare change levels and project
versions, to rollback changes, and monitor development progress.  All
changes are automatically logged and forms can be locked to ensure that
only one programmer makes changes at a time.  Other features include
read-only viewing and the ability to create a form shadow for easy
accessibility in a distributed system environment.

The VisPro Database Designer that comes with VisPro/REXX, VisPro/C and
VisPro/C++ is greatly improved in both the function and appearance of
results, providing features previously found only in products that cost
hundreds of dollars more.  Entity-relations hip (E/R) diagrams display
all column names in tables and provide a label for relationships.  By
simply dragging and dropping, programmers can instantly generate GUI
panels for adding, changing, deleting and searching for rows in a table.
Another new featu re of the VisPro Database Designer is the join, which
allows programmers to easily implement joins of related information
between tables.  Drill-down support allows programmers to generate
panels to access information by traversing related table data in a
drill-down fashion.

VisPro programmers can design and reverse-engineer IBM DB2 databases as
well as Watcom SQL, or any ODBC-enabled database.  VisPro/C and
VisPro/C++ now generate native embedded SQL for Sybase, Oracle, IBM DB2
and Watcom SQL.  Data Definition Language (DDL) s upport allows
programmers to quickly create databases from E/R diagrams.

Both VisPro/C and VisPro/C++ now support the IBM Visual Age C++ and
MetaWare High C compilers.  In addition, VisPro/C supports the Borland
and Watcom OS/2 compilers.

VisPro/REXX 3.0 includes hundreds of new APIs, an improved
multi-threaded debugger with support for conditional break points and
animation, and Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) support.  Customers who
purchase or upgrade to VisPro/REXX Gold 3.0 will receive for free, the
VisPro/REXX Image Processing Object Pack


Pricing
Suggested retail pricing for VisPro/REXX Bronze 3.0 is $59 (available
10/15/95).  VisPro/REXX Gold 3.0 is $299 (available 9/15/95).  Customers
who purchase or upgrade to VisPro/REXX Gold 3.0 will receive for free,
the VisPro/REXX Image Processing Ob ject Pack.  VisPro/C and VisPro/C++
are $299 each (available 10/15/95).  The VisPro Development Suite, which
includes VisPro/REXX Gold, VisPro/C and VisPro/C++ is priced at $499.
VisPro 3.0 upgrades (REXX Gold, C, C++) are $99.  Pricing for
VisPro/REXX Gold LAN version is available for networks with five or more
users (call for pricing).  VisPro/Objects is free to VisPro customers.
VisPro products are available directly from HockWare or from software
resellers worldwide.

In April of 1993, HockWare introduced VisPro/REXX--the first OS/2 visual
REXX programming tool as well as the first REXX programming tool to
include drag and drop programming.  VisPro/REXX fully exploits OS/2 2.x,
the Workplace Shell, CUA '91 objec ts, SOM and the REXX language.  There
are three commercially available products developed with VisPro/REXX:
Performance Plus by Clear and Simple, a CPU performance monitoring tool;
WatchIt by Client Server Networking, a LAN performance analysis and
manage ment tool for IBM LAN Server; and CS-Edit/2 by Multitask
