After restarting the browser the message is displayed correctly. - If only the active message browser is open and another user unacknowledges a message that would now appear in the active browser, the browser dies. PHSS_21721: - ovtrap2opc does not handle template names properly if they consist of more than a single word. All other words except the first will be ignored. - opcchgaddr cannot be used to modify the node address of a node with duplicate IP address or node name. - Enhanced opcack(1M) and opcdbinst(1M) to allow an easier cleanup after a message shower. - the seconds are truncated from a message when you write it to a file - messages in the message browser are truncated to 80 characters after a message modification. You had to restart the browser or look into the details to see the original message again. - map status propagation not saved when ITO GUI was called by non root user. - Submap updates in the admin GUI take very long if a lot of symbols are in the submap. - Cannot upload node with a different IP address. - opccfgupld cannot upload two external nodes with the same pattern but different types. - Node not visible in node hierarchies after opccfgupld but it is visible in node groups. - opcdbsetup aborts with error, if Oracle8 value is used for compatible in the init${ORACLE_SID}.ora file. - opcmgrdist command replaces OpC_appl sub-directory if configuration name has a trailing "/". - If you want to start the Java GUI in a Netscape browser which has no Java-Plugin installed yet, you have to download it. But the link in the online instructions points to an outdated source (we need plugin version 1. 2 or above but not 1. 1. 1) - MSI program got same events twice if crashed and restarted - Messages are not acknowledged when node is deleted in the GUI. - OpC60-101 error at start of the ITO GUI when submap set as home - Cannot start input/output application from a Japanese Server on a managed node with another character set. - Long command of an input/output application is cut. - opctmpldwn did not download scheduled action templates - History download produces confusing messages regarding the check for orphan nodes. - Message cannot be added to ITO database if the corresponding action call is too long. - opcttnsm aborts if instruction text is expanded via external instruction interface application. - ITO-NNM node status update was not done correctly when switching nodes between unmange and manage state. - opccfgdwn aborts with memory fault. - If a virtual terminal to an NT PC is closed with CTRL-C the terminal is not closed and the corresponding cmd.exe uses 100% CPU on the NT agent. - opcmsgm has memory leak if MSI applications are used. - Customized startup of application may crash opcuiopadm if application was defined to run on a target node list of more than two nodes. - The opcnode_add and opcnode_modify API functions don't set the heartbeat flag OPCDATA_HEARTBEAT_POLL_ENABLE. - ovoareqsdr tried all known protocols (DCE RPC, NCS RPC, SUN RPC) for heartbeat polling after the configured protocol failed for some reason. This was changed but the old behaviour can be restored using in opcsvinfo: OPC_HBP_USE_ALL_PROTOCOLS TRUE - If the ECS patch PHSS_19622 is installed, the ECS designer fails to find the ITO modules during startup. With this patch, ITO doesn't specify the module path any more so that the default one will be used always. - Some trace or DEBUG messages showed odd / wrong values - Bitmaps and text are not properly aligned within the monitor template configuration window - opcdbpwd -e sqlplus cannot handle '\' characters in the SQL command - On HP-UX 11. x sometimes opc_adm GUI dies on unresolved symbol: inet_ntoa_r (code) from/opt/OV/lib/libopcpb.sl - ITO does not check for Messages with the same ID in the history message tables. - opccfgupld -replace drops node defaults of platforms that are not in the download data. - Too long trap node name results in Can't add message to DB error. - Agent installation on an Windows NT BDC system might fail with a memory fault / core dumping opcragt if the used password is too long. - Under some circumstances the opcuiadm process aborts right after startup of the opc_adm GUI, so that the NodeBank window doesn't come up. The problem is caused by a bug in the error handling of duplicate OVw object IDs. - unresolved external 'stricmp' from libopcsv_r.sl - Multiple long annotations are mixed in report output of the selected message reports. - Sometimes messages in the browser were selected wrongly when using shift-click to select a range of messages. In rare cases this could lead to GUI aborts. - Added OPC_USE_LOWERCASE opcsvinfo option to convert node names to lowercase to avoid mixed case problems. PHSS_21285: - Up to now the ITO ITO Java-based operator GUI didn't allow to save the layout of the message browser windows including: - order of the columns - width of the columns - sort order of the columns - height and width of the browser PHSS_20580: - opchistdwn now allows more selective history downloads - opcconfig does not detect an installed MC/SG in Japanese environments - the Java GUI displays the SNMP community string in the 'Original message text' tab. - opc_backup fails to restart the opctrapi process because it starts the ITO agent _before_ the other OpenView processes are started - server processes shut down a few minutes after start up if there were unreachable MPI clients registered (like Java GUIs not properly terminated). This was due to a timing condition at server startup. - up to now it was not possible to print something from inside the Java GUI. - Installing UNIX agents from an ITO server which has no transition link from /bin to /usr/bin will leave a temporary file /tmp/remsh.out and an error message in the install.log file: ... opcping: '/bin/rm' not found - The service navigator has performance problems if you use too many (~1000) subservices. After every message change event, the Java GUI system uses 100% of its CPU for a protracted amount of time. - Cannot filter for non-IP nodes in the History Browser. - Responsibility check does not work for external nodes - message acknowledge performance improvements - In certain cases if you use the ANSE product and create secret keys for hosts which have alias names, the ITO processes don't start. The ovoareqsdr gets signal 10 and aborts. - The sel_msg report does not show the correct message source type. - the admin GUI (opcuiadm process) may abort if an application is added to the application bank - the operator GUI (opcuiop process) may abort once in a while due to wrong memory handling - The GUI aborts when opening an instruction interface with an instruction parameter longer than 245 bytes. PHSS_20024: - Display Manager memory leak in MSI in external node handling. - opc_backup corrupts the backup if it gets larger than 2GB the backup seems to runs OK but is unusable for restore. There is no fix yet, just a workaround: backup is prevented if it gets larger than 2GB, so no corrupt backups are made. A fix will follow in a later release. - opcdbreorg did not work for Oracle8 and tablespace OPC_4 - Unnecessary Invalid message ID errors (OpC50-10) in the opcerror file if ECS is used with NNM. - Message Group filter did not work correctly in the History Browser. Not all messages are displayed when filtering on Message Groups. - opccfgupld aborts when certain ITO 4 data is uploaded. - opccfgupld -replace reported error OpC50-1 for certain templates - the support tool itochecker had problems to determine the kernel parameters of HP-UX 11.x 64 bit systems - ORA-01455 during history download - An error message appears if an external node is deleted in the GUI. - Pattern matching does not work correct on a Japanese system. - opctmpldwn core dumps when used with more than 100 templates. - User bank(admin GUI) is empty after config. upload when using operators who have saved Browser Filters Defect Description: PHSS_22168: check the list of the symptoms Resolution: check the list of the symptoms PHSS_21721: check the list of the symptoms The saved settings include: - order of the columns - width of the columns - sort order of the columns - height and width of the browser You can save the layout using the following methods: - GUI: change the layout of the browser so that it meets your requirements. Select "View: Save Browser Layout" to save this new layout. - Configuration file: manually write the configuration file "itoopbrw" that reflects the desired browser layout. See below for detailed instructions. When saving the layout, you have the choice between saving a default layout for each type of browser or a default layout for each filtered browser. The browser type includes settings for the active messages, history messages, and pending messages browsers. The default layout for filtered browsers is saved under the filter name. Note that this release is supported in both English and Japanese environments. The menu entry "View: Save Browser Layout", however, is displayed in the English language on Japanese systems. ============================================================ Configuration ============================================================ o To save the browser layout using the GUI ---------------------------------------- Saving a default layout for each browser type: 1. Change the order and width of the columns in the message browser until it meets your requirements. 2. Make sure that the browser for which you want to save the layout is active. 3. Select "View: Save Browser Layout -> Save as Default". For an active messages browser, select "Active". Select "History" for history browsers, and "Pending" for pending messages browsers. 4. ITO saves the layout in the file "itoopbrw" in your home directory. For example, on Windows NT, your home directory is usually in c:\Windows\Profiles\. Saving the layout with a filter name: 1. If you want to save the layout for filtered browsers, open a browser with the saved filter settings. Otherwise, first define the desired filter and save it. Then open a browser with the new saved filter settings. 2. Change the order and width of the columns in the filtered message browser until it meets your requirements. 3. Make sure that the browser for which you want to save the layout is active. Select "View: Save Browser Layout -> Save as Filter Name". 4. ITO saves the layout in the file "itoopbrw" in your home directory. For example, on Windows NT, your home directory is usually in c:\Windows\Profiles\. o To save the layout using the configuration file ----------------------------------------------- If you want to provide a configuration file for many operators, you can also manually write the file using the syntax described below and distribute it to each Java GUI client together with the Java GUI software. 1. Write the configuration file using the syntax described below. If you find it difficult to get started, you may want to create a configuration file using the GUI, and then manually modify the generated file as desired. 2. Save it with the name "itoopbrw". 3. Distribute the configuration file to the Java GUI clients. The file must be located in the "ito_op" directory where the Java GUI software is installed. When the GUI is started (or the configuration reloaded), it checks whether the configuration file exists in the "ito_op" directory. If the file exists, the browser settings are loaded from there. If there is no "itoopbrw" file in the "ito_op" directory, ITO checks the user's home directory. If an "itoopbrw" file exists in both the "ito_op" and the user's home directory, the file in the home directory takes precedence. Configuration file syntax ------------------------- The syntax in the browser layout configuration file is as follows: [ACTIVE { } [SORT ASCEND|DESCEND] [WIN_WIDTH ] [WIN_HEIGHT ] ] [HISTORY { } [SORT ASCEND|DESCEND] [WIN_WIDTH ] [WIN_HEIGHT ] ] [PENDING { } [SORT ASCEND|DESCEND] [WIN_WIDTH ] [WIN_HEIGHT ] ] {NAME:"" { } [SORT ASCEND|DESCEND] [WIN_WIDTH ] [WIN_HEIGHT ] } Where: ACTIVE values for Active filter HISTORY values for History filter PENDING values for Pending filter NAME is a keyword name of the filter; precede " and \ with backslashes; for example, for " in NAME use \", for \ in NAME use \\ determines the width of the column (value 10 means approximately 10 characters); 0 is defines a column that is invisible width of browser window in pixels height of browser window in pixels SORT keyword identifying sorting information for specified column ASCEND identifies the direction of sorting: sort order up DESCEND identifies the direction of sorting: sort order down reserved words are: SEVERITY_COL FLAGS_COL DATE_COL TIME_COL NODE_COL APPLICATION_COL MSG_GRP_COL OBJECT_COL MSG_TEXT_COL Configuration file rules ------------------------ ITO follows these rules when loading the configuration file: o ITO first searches for the configuration file in the user's home directory, then in the "ito_op" directory. If a configuration file is not found, ITO uses internal default values for the layout. o If a browser layout is saved for a filter, this layout is loaded; otherwise the default layout for the browser type is used. If no default layout is defined for the type, ITO uses internal default values for the layout. o If columns are not defined in the configuration file, ITO uses internal default values for the layout. The same is true for the sort order and the height and width of the browser window. ============================================================ Usage ============================================================ ITO automatically applies the saved layout settings. There are no manual steps required from the user. For example, if a default layout has been saved for active messages, ITO loads this default layout every time a new active messages browser is opened. ============================================================ Known Problems ============================================================ There are currently no known problems.
