Patch Name: PHCO_22557 Patch Description: s700_800 10.10 top(1) and ps(1) cumulative patch Creation Date: 00/12/04 Post Date: 00/12/06 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.10 s800: 10.10 Products: N/A Filesets: OS-Core.CMDS-AUX OS-Core.UX-CORE OS-Core.CORE-ENG-A-MAN Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Release Critical: No Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHCO_22557 Symptoms: PHCO_22557: 1. top(1) output functionality corrected. 2. Long tty names cause unaligned output for top(1). PHCO_14305: top(1) displays wrong usernames after the last patch. top(1) does not display pseudo terminals under /dev/pts directory. Extra character in top output at the lower right corner of the screen. Floating exception when screen is small. PHCO_10114: top has a long initialization time on systems with NIS. PHCO_7035: ps -p "proclist" only allows space or comma separated list of pids. PHCO_6599: There is a problem with the output of the top command at hpux 10.0. When the system is lightly loaded, everything is okay, but when the system begins to get users on it, the output becomes very strange. If a system has more than 300 tasks, top displays negative cpu usage. Defect Description: PHCO_22557: 1. top(1) output functionality corrected. Resolution: Code has been modified to take care of this issue. 2. If the tty name of a process is more than 6 characters, the line corresponding to that process in the top output appears to be shifted towards right. This results in poor legibility. Resolution: top(1) will align the process information and the header dynamically based on the length of the longest tty name. PHCO_14305: top(1) displays wrong usernames after last patch. This is due to the collisions while hashing. top(1) does not display pseudo terminals under /dev/pts directory. Extra character in top output at the lower right corner of the screen. Floating exception when screen is small. This occurs when the number of processes which can be displayed on the screen becomes zero. PHCO_10114: The problem occurred due to a linear search of the passwd file using getpwent(3C). A section of top was recoded to use getpwuid(3C) which has better performance under NIS. PHCO_7035: ps -p "proclist" only allows space or comma separated list of pids, not tabs. PHCO_6599: top displays invalid information if the system has more than 300 tasks. The problem is easily reproducable on a heavily loaded system, by running top. top will display negative values for cpu usage.
