N440BX Server Board
Processors
Supported
The Intel® Pentium® III processor is supported only on
N440BX server boards shipped from Intel since September 1998.
Some of these boards will require a BIOS and firmware upgrade
for Pentium III processor support. Use the following matrix to
determine the capability of your board.
The AA or PBA number can be found on a small sticker
located next to the N440BX server board's ISA slot.

All N440BX server boards support Pentium II processors with a 100 MHz
Front Side Bus (FSB) running at 350 MHz, 400 MHz, or 450 MHz
with 512 KB of integrated L2 cache.
The 450 MHz Pentium II
processor requires BIOS 6.2 or later.
The N440BX also can be used with the 266, 300 and 333 MHz
Pentium II processors, which have a 66 MHz system bus, but has
not been fully tested in these configurations.
For optimal performance, Intel strongly recommends using
Pentium II processors with ECC L2 cache in the server
environment.
