INTRODUCTION
Compaq is pleased to introduce the new Compaq Presario 2000 Series of
Personal Computers. This product has been designed as an affordable,
feature-rich, consumer-oriented multimedia desktop personal computer. It
is targeted primarily for families seeking an additional PC for their home
or those who have delayed the purchase of a computer for lack of an
affordable price or great value. The Presario 2000 is remarkable in that,
along with its attractive low price, its features are on a par with those
of new mainstream PCs. Also, the Compaq Presario V400 Color Monitor is
being promoted with the Presario 2000 Series for its compatible
performance and matching black finish.
MODELS
This product is available in two models:
1. Model 2100 (Configuration Code BL62) supported in North America and
2. Model 2110 (Configuration Code BL65) supported in Latin America.
FEATURES
With the exception of the amount of RAM, both models have the following
configuration:
o 133 MHz Processor with MediaGX Technology
o 24 MB EDO (extended data out) RAM (U.S. only. Model 2110 supports 16 MB
EDO RAM.)
o Expandability of memory to a maximum of 128 MB using four 32 MB SIMMs
o 2.0 GB hard drive
o 3.5 inch 1.44 MB diskette drive
o 8x CD-ROM
o 33.6/14.4 Kbps data/fax modem
o Easy setup with only four color-coded cables (keyboard, mouse, modem,
and AC power)

Dimensions are 14.0 inches wide by 14.5 inches deep by 3.0 inches high,
which is almost a 40 percent smaller form factor than traditional desktop
computers Can be expanded with external peripherals

Preinstalled operating system and application software includes the

MONITOR
The Compaq Presario V400 Color Monitor is the recommended monitor for the
Presario 2000 Series PCs based on compatibility and a matched black
finish. However, most monitors can be connected to the Presario 2000
Series PCs for display support. Table 1 lists the monitor specifications.

SUPPORT SOFTWARE
Each Presario 2000 Series PC is preinstalled with Compaq Diagnostics for
Windows Version 1.16b or later. Each product also includes a Quick
Restore compact disc and diskette, which are in the Multimedia Kit.
SERVICE CONSIDERATIONS
MODEM
The modem slot is only for approved Compaq modems having the appropriate
mechanical form factor, such as the 33.6/14.4 Modem (Part Number
287956-001). Its features are as follows:
o Data transfer rate of 33.6 Kbps in accordance with the protocols V.34,
V.32.bis, V.32, V.22bis, V.22, V.21, and Bell 212A/103
o Fax transfer rate of 14.4 Kbps in accordance with the protocols V.29,
V.27ter, V.17, V.21 channel 2, and Class 1
o Error correction protocols V.42, MNP 2-4
o Data compression protocols V.42bis and MNP 5
o System BIOS-assisted Plug-n-Play support (COM2/IRQ3)
o On-board call progress speaker
WARRANTY
The Compaq Presario 2000 Series PCs are protected by the Compaq Limited
Warranty, which guarantees one-year parts and one-year labor coverage with
on-site service available in the Unites States and Canada during the first
90 days. On-site service is not available in Latin America.
