DESCRIPTION:
This Softpaq contains the files included on the Compaq System Board Software
Adjustment CD. In the event your CD is damaged or missing, this Softpaq can be 
downloaded, extracted, and then written to CD-R/RW media using a CD-R/RW optical drive
and CD-R/RW writing software.

The contents of the CD are used to perform an automatic software adjustment on the models
listed below that are affected by the Intel Almador 830 Chipset stepping change
from A4 to A6.

HOW TO USE: 

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename
based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

3. Once the files contained in the Softpaq have been extracted, they can
be written to CD-R/RW media to create the System Board Software Adjustment CD.

Example:
On a computer equipped with a CD-R/RW optical drive and CD-R/RW writing software --

A) Download and execute the Softpaq to extract the files to the default
   location C:\Compaq\SP20816.

B) Insert a blank CD-R/RW media in the CD-R/RW optical drive.

C) Start your CD-R/RW writing application.

D) Follow the instructions appropriate for your CD-R/RW writing application to
   write ALL the contents of the directory C:\Compaq\SP20816 to the CD-R/RW media.

E) After successfully writing the CD, refer to the "Read This First.DOC" file for
   instructions on its usage.
