                         Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

1. INTRODUCTION

This file contains information regarding use of the ProLiant Support Pack for
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. The following information is provided:

    Support Pack Installation
    Component Usage
    Log File Usage

2. SUPPORT PACK INSTALLATION

The primary method for installing the Support Pack is to run the SETUP.EXE
program included with the Support Pack. By default, all software is selected
for installation. In most circumstances, this default selection should not be
altered, and installation is as simple as pressing the "Install" button. Even
when selected, only software that is appropriate for the system it is being run
on will actually be installed. Press the "Install" button to proceed with the
installation. After installation of the appropriate software the utility will
display any installation failures. For more information on the usage of
SETUP.EXE, refer to the white paper or access the help system while running
SETUP.EXE.

A BP000108.CMD file is also provided with the Support Pack for use
in installing the Support Pack from a command prompt without user interaction.
As with the SETUP.EXE program, all software appropriate for the system it is
being run on will be installed.

The ProLiant Support Pack for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 contains numerous files. All
files must be present in the same directory as the SETUP.EXE program in
order for the Support Pack to be installed properly.

A console version of the setup application (SETUPC.EXE) is also provided as a
way to script installations of the Support Pack or components. For more
information on its usage, refer to the help available by running setupc.exe /?.

3.	COMPONENT USAGE

In addition to the SETUP.EXE program mentioned above, the Support Pack contains
individual .EXE files corresponding to the various components that make up the
Support Pack. If necessary, these components can be installed individually or
their contents extracted to a floppy diskette for use during OS installation.

To install an individual component just run the appropriate CPxxxxx.EXE file
and chose the "Install" button.

To extract the contents of a component to diskette run the appropriate
CPxxxxx.EXE file, then chose the "Extract" button instead of the "Install"
button.

3.1 COMPONENT CONFIGURATION

Component files now offer optional support configuration before they are
installed. The optional support configuration allows component-specific
settings to be written into the .EXE file for availability during installation.

Configuration is performed using the functionality provided by SETUP.EXE.
When SETUP.EXE is launched, you will be able to all of the components that
support or require configuration in the tree view of the main window. To
configure a component, right-click on an item and select "Configure..."
from the context-menu. For more information, consult the ProLiant Support Pack
(PSP) and Deployment Utilities User Guide.

NOTE: Component Configuration requires that the Smart Components must be
in a write-accessible location. A CD or read-only network share is not supported.
If you have obtained this Support Pack on the Smart Start CD, copy the entire
contents of the Support Pack directory to the local hard drive or a network share
and make sure the read-only attributes have been cleared from all of the files.
