Abime (Angry Bloody Infernal Map Editor) version 0.91 Copyright 1996-1997 Matt Joiner. Abime is a Windows95 map editor for quake. The files abime092.txt, al'abime.wav, quake.pal, qbsp.exe and abime.exe may be freely distributed as long as (1) they are all included together within a single directory or zip file, (2) there are absolutely no modifications made to any of them, and (3) absolutely no fee is charged. version 0.92: OOPS!!! Brushes were not right at all. If any of you got burned by Abime just send me your map and I will fix it for you. Abime was saving brushes inside out and other really bad stuff. I apologize for releasing anything so beta. Anyway, version 0.92 fixes that completely, plus adds a feature: flipped horizontal axis editing. This is mostly for the 3D mode. version 0.91: fixed a bug that crashed Abime when inserting the first entity into the map. the files: mfc40.dll msvcrt40.dll need to be in your windows/system directory. If you don't have them a relatively small (<600K) zip file with these is available at my ftp, ftp://ftp.sonic.net/pub/users/mortlgrn/doom/vc40dlls.zip [mortlgrn@sonic.net] author of : The M J Doom Page (http://www.sonic.net/~mortlgrn/doom.html) PolyEd A Superior Front End (windows 95 version now available!) Tall PolyEd Level (Giant.bsp) Erkles Domain (erkle9.bsp) Features: Native .MAP file format: Yes!!!! CSG/Subtraction: No way!! 3D texture mapping: No way!! This is NOT one of those big souped up level makers that do a bunch of powerfull things that seem to everything but help you make maps! This is a well structured utility that will allow you to manipulate brushes by their very corners! Don't worry, you can move whole brushes at a time and faces too. Multiple views are possible with new windows, and there isn't a big fat tool window off to the right taking up half your editing space either! No way; with Abime, you can have as many or as few windows as you like. Immensely detailed dialogs come up with every immaginable option for your quake brushes, entities, and models. It is really very pleasant and I hope you think so to. Feel free to e-mail me with bug reports or comments/suggestions. I didn't mean to sound unwelcome to those in last release. Future versions of Abime will be available at: http://www.sonic.net/~mortlgrn/quake.html PS: You may want/need to use the version of qbsp included. I've noticed that many don't recognize full path for texture files. This one can handle this format, as well as tell you that it's going to crash because it doesn't have enough RAM BEFORE it crashes. PPS:Here are some helpful hints you wouldn't know otherwise: Study polyed tutorial if you're just getting started; the biggest change is that here we have corner, face, and brush modes selectable on the toolbar. HOLD DOWN CTRL KEY TO STAY IN CURRENT SELECTED BRUSH WHILE TRYING TO HIGHLIGHT A DIFFERENT CORNER OR FACE IN THE SAME BRUSH. Use arrow keys to scroll. Most important are the quake map specs available at: http://www.niklata.com/quake/qmapspec.html that will enlighten you about entity variables.
