My first Quake level worth showing people. ---------------------------------------------- SINGLE PLAYER: yes - your mission is to exterminate all of the indigenous life forms infesting the swamp* and exit the map (a small patch of "sky" in the far left corner). COOPERATIVE ENGAGEMENT: no - "I work alone" DEATHMATCH: yes - 6 starts NEW TEXTURES: no NEW MUSIC: Quake has music? QUAKE C: what's that? KNOWN BUGS: *16 monster entities APPARENTLY ended up embedded in various blocks, so you can't get the full body count. Like I said, it was my 1st map. ---------------------------------------------- EDITOR USED: JQT for the Mac!! BASE: new level from scratch BUILD TIME: about 22 hours spread out over 6 days amongst some 5 months BRUSHES: 54 ENTITIES: 163* QBSP time: 363 seconds LIGHT: 11 seconds VIS: 4910.0 seconds!! ---------------------------------------------- NOTES: My first "clean", I-knew-what-I-was-doing Quake level redone for an enhanced "naturalistic environment. I was inspired by watching a bunch of Vietnam movies (and the Arboria sequence from "Flash Gordon") to make a "swamp" level, where things would be underwater but the reliance wouldn't be on swimming through huge pools as much as employing battle tactics as you dodge one another by darting between (or hopping over) small "dry" spots. The smaller half-submerged vertical blocks are meant to represent tree trunks, by the way, and I also have done no lighting design in this map, hoping to achieve the kind of "outdoor", daytime, anti-Goth feel; I even managed to paste JQT's pretty blue sky texture onto the ceiling. Ahh yes - this one's a keeper.
