=========================================================================== Advanced engine needed : Limit-removing, UMAPINFO compatable Primary purpose : Single play =========================================================================== Title : Forsaken Compound Filename : COMPOUND.WAD Release date : 10 April 2024 Author : Ivymagnapinna Email Address : [redacted] Other Files By Author : bloodworks.zip Misc. Author Info : i'm 2 feet deep in the sludge right now Description : A 1-episode wad for Doom 1 set in a tech complex integrating itself into Hell. There's blood in the pipes, flesh in the machinery, and the walls won't take their eyes off you. Balanced with both continuous play and pistol starts in mind. Gameplay is slaughtery in some parts, simple and atmosphere/puzzle-oriented in others, I'd say it's definitely harder than your average Knee Deep in the Dead-style wad. I aimed for a sense of difficulty progression and progression through locations/themes, but I've got no story for any of these maps. Use your imagination. Additional Credits to : Custom palette: Dir Custom music: Lippeth, Dragonfly, Cammy, L.A. The DOOM 64 sfx were a newer addition and I think they fit this one especially well. E1M2: Weeping Willow Music: L.A. Sieben - Agony Rhapsody (TNT:Evilution) I like how I did the atmosphere here, but not that interesting aside. E1M3: Dread Experiment Music: Snaxolotl - Fallen Monuments (Stickney Installation) Started off as my take on Deimos Lab and evolved from there. A bit of The Chasm in there as well. This is the one I'm proudest of, I'll likely do another take on this texture theme in the future. E1M9: Cybertemple Music: Jimmy - Tower of Fire (Plutonia midi pack) Fun BFG spam and what I think are pretty distinct visuals. E1M4: Dead Man's Station Music: Viscra Maelstrom - This is my Boomstick (.MID the way Id Did) Dead Zone, Ultimate Doom edition. The IWAD textures limit I set on myself means my natural rockscapes are pretty monotone. SP_ROCK1 forever! E1M5: Excavating Evil Music: Tristan Clark - Reaching Deeper (TNT:Revilution) Please take a moment to appreciate the MARBFACES with the funny eyes, I worked hard on those. E1M6: G.R.I.N.D.E.R. Music: Xulgonoth & Cammy - Bipolar Boogie (AV midi Pack) If you can think of something for that to stand for, let me know. Visuals are heavily based off DUSK's E2M4: The Infernal Machine and the opening area's layout is reused from a scrapped Doom 2 map of mine. E1M7: Hellmouth Music: decino - Shhh, The Shadows are Near (AV midi pack) Mainly inspired by Ichinichi's MAP05, I tried to take its texture theme and create more of a narrative with it. I always liked how the original E1 slows down into an easier but more atmospheric conclusion, so I tried to do the same. E1M8: So Below Music: Lee Jackson - Plasma (Duke Nukem 3D) This ended up being a burnout map for me, and I'm lucky that only happened right at the end of the project. Kind of an excercise in trying to make the most surreal thing out of stock textures without it being ugly as sin. Whole initial area is based off another scrapped Doom 2 map of mine that I recreated from memory here, and the final area is a recreation of a dream I had. * Copyright / Permissions * Authors MAY use the contents of this file as a base for modification or reuse.
