Title : Mangler Deluxe
Filename : Mangdlux.map
Author : I wonder
Email Address : I wonder.... I wonder....
Misc. Author Info : I've modified too many maps now.
Description : Mangler.map with a great paint job, buttons
that work all the time and sound too!
(Don't you just love that name? :)

                        If you don't know what mangler.map is, it's a
map where you have all the weapons set in the middle
but when you go there, other players can squish you
by hitting various buttons around the map.

It was a great concept, but I thought I could improve
on the original and I think I did.

Additional Credits to : To Airwolf, the person who made mangler.map, which
makes up almost the entire structure of this map.
To TCDMNTIA, who helped me test it and who's advice
                         added to this level.

I've included mangler.zip which is the original map (and its text
file) on which mangdlux.map is based. If you like the original
better, you can always play that one. :)

Also included a demos, which may or may not be of the highest
quality. Well, it shows what mangdlux is all about anyway.
To use it, run mangdlux with a line like "duke3d -map mangdlux"
        and then quit to title.

Something I learned.. when you use duke3d -map, not duke3d /map,
you get all the monsters that are on the level and with /map you
get none of them. So use duke3d -map mangdlux, not
duke3d /map mangdlux, unless you actually want to look at the scenery.

The structure is almost identical to that of Mangler.map. Except that
I changed the doors so they swing out of the way. They were really
getting on my nerves. I changed the tiles and added some neato
lighting.. If you hate the lighting, drag out build and edit it,
I don't care. Mangler.map is not my work and that's why I'm not
taking credit for it. The buttons work everytime now, that is, the
"squishers" move everytime you actually hit the button, you may not
always hit the button right. I also changed the button types so now
you can shoot them to get them to work. There are also 2 escape
buttons on the middle part of the squisher, so if you get stuck in
the middle, you have a 1 in 2 chance of making it out.

The buttons are down that low for a reason. You don't have to
bend down to activate them (although you can). You can just
stand, activate and watch your friend get splattered.

There are also 2 "suicide" buttons on the inside of the big
squisher. You can shoot these to get whoever's inside the big
squisher or if you're not too bright, yourself.

The little hidden compartments inside #1 and #2 are history. I
got sick of having the atoms stick and do all sorts of funny
things when they respawned. I tried hiding them somewhere else,
but then it appeared that there was too much health on the level.

I have implemented skill level.. I hope someday 3drealms gives people
the ability to use it with user maps more easily. Skill 1 is sort of
easy. Skill 2 and 3 are not easy.. To get to skill 2 and 3, type
DNSKILL3 and DNSKILL4 respectively... Don't ask me why, but the
DNSKILL cheat subtracts 1 (dnskill 2 gives you skill 1 and dnskill 0
gives you -1, which gives you no monsters and no weapons whatsoever
and dnskill 14 gives you skill 13, which believe it or not, I think
you could do.) There's more ammo in skill 2 & 3, so if you can figure
out how to play multiplayer in higher skills without getting monsters
, you can get more availible amo... Shrink Ray is in the map, but
hidden and not very readily accessible. No I won't tell you where.

If you think the number of monsters is wimpy when you run this map,
try this line: "duke3d -map mangdlux /s3" I guarentee that this
skill level will ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY give you a little challenge.

If I ever modify this map again (sigh) I might change it more
dramatically. That is, if the original author doesn't get to me
        first (heh).
